In the past decade the phrase ‘Quality of Life (QOL)’ has caught the attention of the public – everyone from politicians and advertisers to health professionals and their patients. For health services researchers, however, the field is awash with an array of confusing concepts, a plethora of measures, contradictory research findings and much uncertainty about what it is we want to know and how best to know it. Researchers affiliated with the McMaster Child Health Research Institute are planning a two-day workshop on ‘Quality of Life in Chronic Childhood Conditions and Disorders’. The workshop will feature a mix of plenary talks by speakers who are leaders in the development of concepts and measures; data-based presentations by researchers actively involved in the development and application of QOL measures; theme-based breakout sessions for people with specific content-related interests; methodology sessions; and interactive poster sessions.
We look forward to seeing you in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
